Asia Cup 2025 on the cards

As per reports in Cricbuzz, the Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be played from September 10, after initial reports of the tournament being cancelled on the back of India-Pakistan tensions.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is planning to have a meeting next week and is hopeful of announcing the schedule in the first week of July. Though nothing is final yet, the body is looking to start the tournament from September 10.

The likely venue for the tournament is still undecided with UAE emerging as the most likely option. It is India who are the official hosts of the tournament this year. However, as discussed previously, the tournament will be played in hybrid format whenever it is time for India or Pakistan to host the event.

Also, the tournament will be played in the T20I format, the promotions for which have already begun.

Previously, there were reports of the Asia Cup 2025 being cancelled on the back of the India-Pakistan Operation Sindoor war. There were also reports of India boycotting to play against Pakistan in ICC or ACC events. There were even discussions of boycott on Pakistan's participation in ICC events following the incident.

Despite previous reports of boycott, the ACC is trying their best to find a window for the Asia Cup 2025. Nothing on the matter has been spoken about either by BCCI, ICC or ACC. While BCCI is keen on not playing against Pakistan further, the teams playing in ICC or ACC events holds a lot of importance in terms of broadcast revenue and global cricket overall.
