Delhi Capitals (DC) received a major boost ahead of 46th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with star opener Faf du Plessis declared fit to play.
The veteran batter, who has been out of action due to a groin injury sustained against RCB on April 10, is set to return to the line-up. Du Plessis has been absent in DC’s last five matches with Karun Nair, who scored 89 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI), filling his place.
DC’s Jake Fraser-McGurk confirmed Faf du Plessis’ availability in the pre-match presser, saying,
"I think he’s available tomorrow, from my understanding. He should be available for selection, is my understanding."
Du Plessis’ return is expected to strengthen DC’s top-order, potentially sidelining Fraser-McGurk, with Nair likely slotting in at No. 3 and KL Rahul at No. 4. In the three matches he played this season, the South African scored 81 runs, including a 27-ball fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at an average of 27 and a strike-rate of 155.77.
Delhi Capitals’ Performance in IPL 2025
DC, led by Axar Patel, has been in scintillating form this season, securing six wins in eight matches to claim the second spot on the IPL 2025 points table. Their campaign began with four consecutive victories before MI ended their unbeaten run.
They made a comeback and registered two victories in the next three games. In their last match, DC defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by eight wickets, cruising in a chase of 160 runs.
With du Plessis back, DC will aim to maintain their strong run against a confident RCB side in what promises to be an exciting contest
