Gautam Gambhir Receives Death Threat From "ISIS Kashmir" After Pahalgam Terror Attack; Files Police Complaint

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has received a death threat following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack incident on April 22. Gambhir is a member of the Indian parliament apart from his national duties.

Meanwhile, it is just within two days of the attack that the Indian head coach has received death threats from "ISIS Kashmir" as per reports across several media outlets.

The reports further said that Gautam Gambhir had received two emails with the message written as "I kill you". Gambhir, in response, has approached the Delhi Police and filed a complaint. He has also requested tightened security for himself and his family.

Delhi Police Confirms Death Threat On Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir's police complaint was lodged at the Rajender Nagar police station by Gambhir's private secretary. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M. Harsh Vardhan confirmed that the head coach of the Indian cricket team has indeed received a death threat on his email ID.

"The matter is being investigated. Gautam Gambhir is already a Delhi Police protectee," he said.

Gambhir was one of the many former and current Indian cricketers who condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. He took to Twitter and expressed his anger at the recent incident.

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike,". Gambhir wrote on his official X handle. The response is expected to be a form of retaliation from the local militant group as per experts.

On April 22, as many as 26 innocent people were shot dead in a terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir's Pahalgam. Most of the people who died were tourists. There was a couple who came for their honeymoon to visit Pahalgaam just a week after their marriage on April 16.

The Indian government has strongly opposed this unfortunate incident. PM Narendra Modi has assured that action will be taken soon against this crime. The BCCI, on their part, has further clarified that they will not play any bilateral cricket against Pakistan going forward.
