Rajasthan Royals’ tough run in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) has taken an unexpected off-field turn with a video claiming that their CEO, Jake Lush McCrum, was seen heading towards a liquor store in Bengaluru after the team’s fifth consecutive defeat.Â
The Royals lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 11 runs on Thursday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, further denting their playoff hopes. The team, chasing 206 runs, could only reach 194 runs, despite strong contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (49 runs off 19 balls) and Dhruv Jurel (47 runs off 34 balls).Â
Josh Hazlewood’s four-wicket haul and Virat Kohli’s 70-run knock sealed the hosts’ first home victory of the season, leaving RR in eighth place on the IPL 2025 points table with two wins from nine matches.

The footage, shared widely on social media platforms, purportedly shows a person resembling McCrum near a liquor store named Tonique shortly after RR’s loss. However, the video circulating online is unclear, and the individual in question is not distinctly visible, raising doubts about whether it was indeed McCrum or someone else.
Rajasthan Royals' Performance in IPL 2025
The Royals’ recent struggles have been marked by their inability to close out tight games, with three of their last five losses coming in the final over. Playing without captain Sanju Samson, who was absent for the RCB match as well, Riyan Parag led the side but could not steer them to victory.Â
With their five games remaining in the season, RR faces an uphill battle to secure a playoff spot. They can now only get to 14 points and would want the results of other teams to go in their favor.Â

RR’s next match is scheduled against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28.
