Former Australia captain Tim Paine is establishing himself in the coaching role. After coaching Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL), Cricket Australia (CA) has appointed the former wicketkeeper-batter to a consultancy role, where he will work with the Australia A squad and with the national women's team. However, while these new roles are in place, Paine will continue to remain coach for the Strikers for the upcoming BBL season.

As per ESPNCricinfo, the former Australia captain's new role will begin immediately, leading the Australia A team against Sri Lanka A in July for three ODIs and two four-day matches. Following that, Paine will go with the A team for the tours to India (September-October) and against England Lions later in the year.

The coaching role is not new to the wicketkeeper-batter as he has been previously involved with Australian development sides. Recently, he served as an assistant coach under CA's former national development coach, Lachlan Stevens, during India A's tour in 2024.
