Newly appointed Indian Test captain Shubman Gill received high praise from legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar for his amazing leadership and presence of mind during the second Test against England at Edgbaston.
Gill led India to a historic 336-run victory, becoming the first Indian captain to win a Test match at the iconic venue in Birmingham. He also delivered a record-breaking performance, scoring over 430 runs in the match, including a double century in the first innings and a century in the second.

Tendulkar Praises Gill’s Composed and Smart Leadership
The victory earned Indian skipper admiration from experts across the cricketing world, but it was legendary Tendulkar’s comments that stood out. The Master Blaster highlighted Gill’s composed and intelligent decision-making as key qualities in his captaincy.
“He's been excellent - very calm and composed. I strongly believe that the rest of the ten players respond to his decisions and leadership. The choices he’s made have been measured and well thought out,” Tendulkar told Star Sports.

Tendulkar Highlights Gill’s Batting Brilliance and Technical Strength
Tendulkar also lauded Gill’s record-setting batting display, noting how his form with the bat is enhancing his confidence as a leader.
“His batting complements his captaincy as well. When a captain is in good form, it positively impacts decision-making. You need to be in the right frame of mind to make crucial calls, and he’s clearly there. He’s been batting brilliantly,” he added.

England bowlers struggled to contain Gill, with Tendulkar emphasizing how difficult it has become to find flaws in his technique.
“As the opposition, you'd normally try to target weaknesses in a batter’s technique, but right now, he’s been remarkable. What I’ve seen from him has been special,” Tendulkar concluded.
